Aden, December 31, 2020: The Women's Solidarity Network condemns the treacherous and cowardly terrorist attack that targeted Aden airport during the arrival of the new government to carry out its duties yesterday and in the presence of a large number of people, resulting in the devastated loss of 26 deaths and 110 injuries according to the statement of the Minister of Health. The government accused the Houthi group of launching four ballistic missiles at the airport in a statement issued by the Yemeni Ministry of Foreign Affairs. We affirm that targeting civilians, and civilian infrastructure is a crime punishable by international humanitarian law and is subject to statute of limitations.

We offer our condolences to the families of the victims and our condolences for the loss of innocent victims and human cadres in this brutal attack, and in particular we mourn the engineer, Yasmine Al-Awadi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Public Works, who fell among the martyrs. The women’s movement with her death has lost an important woman leader, and we pray for all the wounded and injured for a speedy recovery.

We affirm that women in Yemen have borne and are still bearing the cost of the war and are ready to participate in the battle and efforts to restore the state and bear our responsibilities as partners in the fields of work and sacrifice in order to get our country and our people out of this dark tunnel.

We welcome the President's instructions to form an investigation committee. We also appreciate the resilience of the new government and their commitment to stay and continue to serve the people. We also recognize the efforts of the local authorities in facing challenges in normalizing the situation in Aden.

We appeal to the government, the local authority, the coalition and the international community:
- Provide medical grants for the wounded.
- Provide reparation and compensation to the victims.
- The urgent formation of a an local and international expert investigation committee with the participation of women.
- Support security stability in Aden, starting with support to the security and air defense system to protect civilian institutions and prevent the recurrence of such terrorist incidents.

We pray for mercy for the martyrs and fast healing for the injured.

We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return.
