Ms. Haifa Shawkat is an engineer as well as a committed legal and environmental activist. She currently serves as the Head of the My Right Initiative, an initiative dedicated to promoting the inclusion of young Yemeni women in governance, peace negotiations, and political processes.

She represents the Arab-European Center for Human Rights and International Law (Oslo) in Yemen and also serves as a representative of the Anti-Corruption Commission in southern Yemen. Ms. Shawkat is an active member of several advocacy networks, including the Women’s Solidarity Network, Amnesty International, and others engaged in civil rights and social justice.

In recognition of her leadership and dedication, she was chosen as an Ambassador Of  Peace and Goodwill and was honored with the Exceptional Young Woman for Peace Award in 2023 by the American organization PTP.

Ms. Shawkat also leads the Peace Initiative, an initiative aimed at fostering dialogue and reconciliation between conflicting parties in Yemen, supported by both local and international civil society organizations. In addition, she serves as the Country Representative for the Youth Diplomatic Forum in Yemen.
