Aden, 4 August 2019: The Women Solidarity Network strongly condemns the treacherous terrorist attacks by the Houthi group and ISIS against the security and military institutions in the capital Aden on Thursday, August 1, 2019. Where Al-Jalaa military training camp was targeted during a graduation ceremony of a batch of young soldiers. The police station of Sheikh Othman district was also targeted by a suicide car bomb attack. According to official statistics, 30 people were killed and 51 wounded, including civilians. Civilian buildings near Sheikh Othman police station were also damaged, resulting in the displacement of a number of families.

While we condemn in the strongest terms these heinous terrorist attacks, we also condemn the violations and inhumane treatment of Northern civilians in the capital Aden or at its entrances and call for an end to these practices.

We call on the government and local authorities to work together, to seriously investigate the attacks and to support the wounded and compensate the victims and the families of the martyrs. We call on them as well for a quick action on preparing a national plan to combat violent extremism and terrorism and work together to boost security, stability and protect vital sites in the capital, Aden.

We call on everyone, including representatives of political parties, political movements and media, to stop incitement and hate speech in the media and websites, to investigate the facts and to raise their discourse to a higher level of national responsibility.

In the end, we can only pray for the wounded for a quick recovery and to the families of the victims, especially the mothers for strength.
